INTRODUCTION TO FAT


    What ever form it is, fat is very important, it has its own benefits. We need some dietary fats to stay healthy. Among other benefits, it helps us absorb some vitamins like A, D , E and K.
  1. The bad fats - saturated fats like butter and lard are generally solid at room temperature. The tropical vegetable oils like palm oil, palm kernel and coconut also contain high levels of saturated fat.
  2. The better fats - unsaturated fats - poly saturated or monosaturated like olive, canola, safflower, soy bean, corn and other vegetable oils are liquid at room temperature.
  3. Somewhere in the middle- transfat are found in meats and dietary products and also processed food.
