CALCULATING YOUR CALORIES

    Approximately 3500 calories = 1 pound
    While 7177 calories = I kg.
So an average man can use 65 calories per hour while sleeping, 350 calories while walking, 900 calories while running. So the higher the metabolism, the more the calories consumed. So in other words, how we and diet greatly affects our calorie consumption. Calories in - calories out = weight  loss/weight gain.

                                FACTORS THAT AFFECTS METABOLISM
  1. Composition of the body - the bigger, the heavier, or the more muscular you are, the more the metabolic rate. This means the heavier you, the more energy it takes to move the body.
  2. Body type- the type of body you are born with plays a large role, where mesomorphs ans endomorphs have more body composition, because they have high calories.
  3. Nerves and hormones- the nervous system can stimulate the endocrine system, it can therefore speed up or slow down metabolism. While hormones can prompt or block activities within the nerves, including the emotional or physical stress, drugs and diets.
  4. Vitamins and minerals
  5. Temperature- metabolism works when the body works to stay warm
  6. Drugs and stimulants- certain drugs like caffeine, amphetamines, some hormones and nicotine in the nervous system can temporarily increase metabolic rate. But side affects includes increase in heart rate and blood pressure, which makes it dangerous, it can also have a negative impact by slowing down metabolism.
  7. Illness and infection- while trying to  fight infection and illness, the body can increase resting energy expenditure by 10-40 percent, thereby increase body metabolism by 15 percent per degree Celsius in the body.
  8. Pregnancy- having a baby is a lot of work, the energy cost of pregnancy is an estimated average of 300 calories daily.
  9. Eating an digestion- digesting and breaking down of food and absorbing food takes a lot of energy. Healthy breakfast can boost resting metabolism by 10 percent more.
  10. Gender and age- women who have more inbuilt fat and less lean muscle than men, tend to have more lower body fat when elderly. The decrease in level of body mass due to lower levels of activity, while steadily decline in metabolic rate.
